I love MySQLDumper. It is a beautiful piece of software and I appreciate all the hard work of the intelligent programmers behind it.

Just a couple of tips for anyone having trouble setting up a cronjob in Plesk. Three things to check for.

1. Double check the generated path to the perl script that MySQLDumper provides. It likely includes the httpdocs but that should be removed from the path as plesk places the cgi-bin directory one level up...

perl /var/www/vhosts/domain.com/httpdocs/cgi-bin/crondump.pl config=mysqldumper.conf.php will NOT work.

rather use

perl /var/www/vhosts/domain.com/cgi-bin/crondump.pl config=mysqldumper.conf.php

2. Make sure your cronjob is running under a user that has enough permissions to run it. I selected the root user although Apache should work fine if you prefer that.

3. Make sure the perl script has been set at 755.

If you check all those items and make sure they're right... you should have a working cronjob for mysqldumper on Plesk.

One other note... if you're testing the cronjob to see if it works... make sure to set it at least two full minutes into the future from the system time. The system time is viewable from within plesk under the server/system time area. You cannot set a cronjob that will run in the next minute... as the setting will only take after 1 minute elapses... so when testing... set for at least two full minutes into the future. Just a few things I ran into while setting up my cron in Plesk 8.*.

Thanks for your suggestions.

is not a failure of MySQLDumper but the result of an incorrect set server variable. MySQLDumper builds the path from several vars that are configured and published by the server. If they are wrong... MySQLDumper can't help it. Wink

I see. Thanks for the update.

I might add... that the server in question is supplied by Godaddy... so if other people on Godaddy are having issues with setting up cron... you might check to make sure your server is not providing the wrong path.
