2007-02-07, 17:59 Perl/Cron job not successful on large database |
  |
Hello All,
I use MySQLDumper to backup four different DB over night, via cronjob.de
3 DBs are successfully backed up, the 4th one not. When I perform a manual backup from the Mysqldumper web interface (so a Php backup), it works fine but takes a while (an average of 2 mns). My DB has a 70 Mb size almost.
Is the cron failure due to the DB size ? If yes, what can I do to improve the result, knowing that I cannot change the time out on the server, it is a mutualized one.
Any help will be appreciated
Thanks/Merci/Danke

Yes, you are running into timeout-limits.
You can avoid that by backing up each database with an own cronjob.
Therefor you can save different config-files (notice the name-inputfield on the perl-screen) and hand over this parameter (config=myconfig2.conf) to the perlscript when executing it.

Thanks for the answer,
If I do so, do I keep the choice to select which table is backed up by a given config-file ?? I did not see where this is configured ... Using 1.12 b11 alpha

Just make sure that "Use actual database:" is set to "yes" in the configuration of "Cronscript", select the database you want to backup in the selectbox on the left in the menu. Enter your new filename at "Configuration file: /new". Now click "Save" and MSD will put the name of the selected database into the my_configuration.conf-File.
There is no need to edit any of the files manually.
Whe calling the script crondump.pl, make sure that the new name of the configuration "my_configuration.conf" is passed over as a paramter.
That's it.
Souns more complicated than it is.
